  • Appointment Coordinator

    Appointment Coordinator is the initial contact for the Bone and Joint Clinic. The main job responsibility is to schedule appointments and complete check out procedures. Appointment desk operations contribute to our organizational success.


    Responsibilities

    • Enter necessary demographic information and schedule appointments following all office procedures
    • Transfer calls to appropriate extensions
    • Assist other departments as needed
    • Schedule return visits during check out process
    • Calculate and collect deductible and co-insurance amounts upon check out
    • Balance money drawer each day
    • Ensure cleanliness of office/workspace
    • Assist patients with medical records requests

    Location & commitments

    • Permanent full-time position

  • Front Desk Agent

    Front desk is the gateway of the clinic. The main job responsibility is to ensure a swift and thorough check in process. Agents will report to the front desk supervisor. Front desk operations contribute to our organization’s success.


    Responsibilities

    • Complete all steps of check in process
    • Verify insurance validity, co-pay amounts… and coordinate with accounting if needed
    • Review completed patient paperwork to ensure necessary information has been captured
    • Collect co-pays or any upfront fees
    • Transfer any paperwork/necessary information to doctor’s office
    • Perform Greeter duties on a rotational schedule
    • Balance money drawer each day
    • Ensure cleanliness of office/workspace

    • Assist with incoming mail/documents/packages

  • Medical Assistant

    We are looking to fill open Medical Assistant positions. As a successful candidate, you will be responsible for coordinating and completing daily administrative tasks and assisting our practitioners during clinic. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package.


    Requirements:

    • High school diploma, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent

    Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:

    • Obtaining and recording patient medical histories, vitals, test results, and other information for medical records

    • Contacting health insurances for prior authorizations for procedures
    • Verifying patient benefits
    • Calculating pre-collection costs based on Clinic’s contracted rates
    • Staying up to date on precertification requirements and insurance company updates

  • Research Coordinator

    Bone and Joint Clinic of Baton Rouge is a private practice group orthopedic clinic. Several of our surgeons are actively engaged in clinical research - both industry sponsored studies and investigator-initiated studies.


    Responsibilities:


    The Research Coordinator works under the general supervision of Orthopedic Surgeon Principal Investigators and the Research Projects Director to carry out clinical trial operations. Tasks may include but are not limited to:

    • Becoming familiar with all aspects of study protocols.
    • Deciphering medical histories and test results
    • Assisting with recruiting patients for enrollment
    • Consenting and tracking subjects in trials according to the study protocol
    • Coordinating and conducting all aspects of Patient Visits
    • Collecting, entering and maintaining all records for study subjects, including source document maintenance and electronic data capture (EDC) completion
    • Assist with monitoring visits
    • Assist with regulatory duties (Sponsor and IRB compliance requirements, etc) as needed
    • Taking patient phone calls concerning study visits, procedures and concerns
    • Assist with clinic-wide patient reported outcome (PRO) data collection program. (Acting as a resource for clinic patients and staff regarding this data collection.)

    Qualifications:

    • Degree in life sciences, public health or related area.
    • Experience in health care preferred. Must be willing to assist with medical procedures in office and collect data in the operating room.
    • Must be able to work independently with strong work ethic.
    • Willing to maintain CITI training/ certifications as required.
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Must be able to prioritize efforts on multiple projects and work efficiently.

    Perioperative Staff Surgical Scrub Technician


    Department: OR / Orthopedic Surgery Center


    Job Summary


    Assists in surgical procedures under the supervision of surgeons, registered nurses or other surgical personnel. Performs a variety of tasks before, during and after surgery to assist surgical team. Creates an operating room environment that is safe for patients and runs efficiently for the team.


    Line of responsibility: Clinical Director and OR Nurse Manager


    Classification: Non-exempt


    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Promote the mission and values of the organization.
    • Perform specific functions to meet requirements of each procedure:
    • Assembling and organizing supplies and equipment for scheduled procedures according to physician information;
    • Performing interventions necessary to ensure that the patient’s procedure is performed on the correct site, side and level;
    • Inspecting equipment for proper working condition;
    • Following principles of aseptic technique. Adhering to aseptic technique when opening sterile packages and preparing for procedures;
    • Setting up sterile tables and arranging instruments. Anticipating what might be needed during the procedure;
    • Labeling medication on the sterile field. Accounting for and verifying amounts;
    • Handing instruments and supplies to surgeon, holding retractors, cutting sutures and performing other tasks as directed by surgeon during procedure;
    • Responding in a timely manner to meet the needs of the patient and physician;
    • Protecting the patient from injury caused by chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical and thermal sources and extraneous objects;
    • Performing counting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items;
    • Managing the patient’s specimens in the appropriate manner; and
    • Assisting in preparing patients before surgery and in moving patients to and from the operating room.
    • Report observed or suspected breaks in sterile technique and take action according to policy.
    • Maintain availability of instruments and supplies to avoid delays.
    • Use, care for, clean and sterilize instrument, supplies and equipment as directed.
    • Handle equipment and instrument to provide appropriate availability and safety.
    • Assist in maintaining adequate supplies in the operating room for immediate access during procedures. Assist in storing and stocking supplies.
    • Assist in cleaning of equipment and rooms.
    • Assist in restocking of supplies and linen.
    • Maintain and update surgeon’s preference cards.
    • Advise other perioperative team members about patient status.
    • Protect the patient’s rights, dignity and privacy.
    • Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as appropriate.
    • Participate in quality review and performance improvement projects.
    • Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members.
    • Maintain required competencies. Responsible for maintaining accurate, up to date education and any required certifications without reminder.

    • Perform other duties as needed (stocking, room turnover, assisting in pre-op or PACU).

    Qualifications
