Robert W. Dugas, M.D.
Dr. Robert Dugas is a graduate of Hahnville High School in St. Charles Parish. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Louisiana State University in 1979. He was a three-time All Southeastern Conference player as well as an All-American offensive tackle. He was acknowledged as an academic All-American and received the NCAA Top Five student athlete award. Additionally, he was honored as a recipient of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame Scholar Athlete Award. Robert received his Medical Degree from LSU Medical Center in 1983. His Orthopaedic Residency was completed in 1988 through the LSU Health Sciences System. Following his residency, he completed a one year Sports Medicine Fellowship in 1989 under the direction of Dr. William G. Clancy at the University of Wisconsin. He was certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in 1991. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine. Since 1990, Robert has been a practicing surgeon at Nebraska Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine in Lincoln, Nebraska. He has served as the University of Nebraska’s Team Physician from 1990-2006. Dr. Dugas became certified in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in November of 2007. He is married to Jean Abadie from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. They have four children: Rob, 21; Kristie, 19; Richard, 18; and Katherine, 12.
