Joseph E. Broyles, M.D.
Dr. Broyles earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Tulane University in 1992 and graduated Cum Laude. He earned his Medical Degree from LSU School of Medicine in Shreveport in 1996 and graduated with honors. After completing an internship at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth, Texas, he began an orthopedic surgery residency at Fort Worth Hospital, which he completed in June 2000. Dr. Broyles served as Chief Resident in Orthopaedics from March through June 2001. Following his residency, Dr. Broyles completed a one-year fellowship in joint replacement surgery in St. Louis, Missouri. He worked with Dr. Leo Whiteside, an internationally recognized expert in hip and knee replacement surgery. With his engineering background, Dr. Broyles is working to invent new surgical devices and techniques. He became certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in July of 2005.
In 2007, he was elected to the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. Broyles has many complicated patients referred to him from other orthopedic surgeons throughout Louisiana and Mississippi. He is certified to perform the Birmingham Hip Resurfacing System, a procedure which conserves bone compared to a traditional hip replacement. For more information, visit: www.hipresurfacing.com.
